Embroidery Lettering Styles
A monogram is a 1, 2 or 3 letter
initial in a certain order. When you have a 3 letter initial done in the
"monogram" style, it is embroidered First Name, Last Name, Middle Name - in that
order. The last name is centered and larger the two outside initials. You
would enter the initials in that order in the "monogram" field.
You can have initials done
not in a "monogram" style. In this case the initials are embroidered First
Name, Middle Name, Last Name and all the same height in that order in the "text" field.
Initials only get tricky when
you have three initials. If you are having a one or two letter embroidery, don't
worry.
Three Letter Traditional Monogram:
This when you want the center letter to
be larger. You should use
"Monogram" field of the personalization option.
1. To do a three letter
monogram embroidery for a person's name,
you should enter:
First name initial, last name initial, middle name initial
Example: Mary Jane Smith should be entered as: MSJ
We would embroider it as MSJ.
2. To do a three letter
monogram with the bride and groom's name:
Traditionally, it would be bride's first name initial, married
last name
initial, groom's first name initial.
Example: Mary Smith is going to marry Joe Brown.
The monogram should be entered as MBJ and it would be
embroidered MBJ.
Two Letter Monogram:
This is pretty straight forward. The
first name initial and last name initial are used in that order.
Single Letter
Monogram:
Traditionally, the last name initial is
used. However, some choose to use the first name initial. It's a personal
choice. (We have seen it done all different ways).
